Have you heard of Somatic Sex Education? SSE is a relatively new alternative healing modality that deals exclusively with sexual health and wellness. The work is based on the application of mindfulness techniques to sex, of listening to our bodies, noticing and following pleasure through body sensation. Let’s face it: our culture is basically sex-negative (even though sex is used to sell everything under the sun!) We are all touched in some way by the trauma and shame that our culture places on sex positivity and the healthy acceptance of pleasure into our lives. Working with a somatic sex educator or sexological bodyworker you can learn to deepen the body’s response to sex, overcome various sexual issues and concerns, heal from trauma, learn to channel sexual energy, even come to a more spiritual understanding of the meaning and experience of sex.
In this two-hour presentation, Somatic Sex Educators Nic Reveles (San Diego-based and SPSD Leadership Team Member) and Court Petrie (LA-based) will introduce you to this exciting new field. You will be introduced to the science underlying the work as well as the importance of setting boundaries, exploring the complexity of human touch, breath-work, massage and some of the Tantric techniques used in the modality of sexological bodywork. You’ll also engage in some simple, gentle exercises to achieve greater embodiment. No disrobing will be required and participation in any exercises will be completely optional.
Your sexual potential is greater than you think. It is also important for your health and overall wellness! Come learn about Somatic Sex Education and its benefits for your sex life!
